NHS Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group is responsible for ensuring the right healthcare services are provided in the right place to the highest quality. We work in partnership to achieve the best possible health outcomes for local people.
We do this by planning and buying (commissioning) healthcare services from local hospitals, GPs and other providers, and supporting those providers to continually improve services for the benefit of our 1.66m population.
The organisation has brought together six clinical commissioning groups – West Hampshire, Southampton City and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Partnership of CCGs (which enabled closer joint working between Fareham and Gosport, Southern Eastern Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and North Hampshire CCGs).
The CCG has been developed in-line with national policy and local plans for health and care, and in parallel with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a partnership of health and care organisations working together to improve population health outcomes.
Coming together as one CCG allows us to continue to maintain a strong local focus while achieving the benefits of working together. It allows us to work to overcome complexity and fragmentation and reduce duplication. This means we are better placed to support our local communities to stay as healthy as possible and ensure residents have access to high quality healthcare services when they need them.
